So, while at the park as mentioned yesterday, there was a chinese church group also meeting there. We ate lunch, they had their own picnic... No one was bothered by anyone.

Until Mom broke out the oreo cookies.

There was this little boy playing near us (He belonged to the chinese church group) and as soon as the bag of cookies opened, he decided that we should be best friends.

At first he just walked around our blanket... Occasionally kicking our ball, inspecting Gage's tricicle.... Then he tuged at Mom's skirt and held up his hand for a cookie. Mom didn't know what to do. What if he was allergic to something in the oreos? What if his mom didn't want him eating cookies given to him by strangers? Obviously it was not a wise decision to give this child a cookie.

But he was so awfully cute. How could anyone say no?

So, instead of dealing with the issue, my mom pranced around the picnic blanket, keeping the box of oreos out of the reach of tiny hands.  She went around once, the little boy followed her. She ran around the other way, so did he, laughing and giggling at this fun game.
All this time, my mom is trying to communicate with this boy that if he asks his mom, she will give him a cookie. Its not working. (It was a chinese speaking church, and some members were not very fluent in english)

Finally, I look him right in the face and say slowly, "Go ask your mommy first. Then you can have one."

All of a sudden, a worried look comes into his eyes. He exclaims, "Mooooommmmyy!" And runs back to his family.

We decide maybe it would be best to dispose of the cookies quickly, before anyone else wants one.

 So I did.

The End
