EPIC - Longfellow or Captain Underpants?

"Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - 1807-1882
Longfellow was born in Maine, and while still a young man, he became a professor at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he lived for the rest of his life. He became one of the most popular poets of his day throughout the english speaking world. His poem, HIAWATHA, is, perhaps, the best known modern epic poem. "

"THE SLAVES DREAM - by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow"

Me: ITS SUPER EPIC!

Mom: Uh, the slave's dream is?

Me: No, I was just kidding... I just said that cause he wrote an epic poem.

Mom: An epic poem means...

Me: I know what an epic poem is, I did a unit on poetry last year. I just think its funny because 'epic' is a 'cool word' nowadays.

Peyton: What is an epic poem?

Me: Pretty much a long story, told in the form of a poem.

Charter: At the begining of my Captain Underpants book, it says, "The 4th EPIC novel" so is it....

Me: No, Charter. Captain underpants does not count as 'epic poetry'.
