Mom reads to us a lot in school. A while ago, she read me and sloan 'the chrysalids'... Today we just finished 'star of light'...
Whan she was reading the Chrysalids, she started one chapter with, " David watched in horror as Sophie plunged the knife into Rossalind's breast, and her life blood trickled into a puddle on the floor..."
OH! She CAN'T of KILLED her! What a horrible thing to happen!
"Just wanted to make sure you are listening!"
Or today:
"Hamid grew very weak. He grew weaker and sicklier every day, until one day the english nurse took him into her home and tried to nurse him back to health. It was too late, he was to sick and weak to be made better. Even though the english nurse did everything she could, Hamid died...' Just kidding - sometimes I just want to know if your listening"
Charter: NOO! HE CAN'T DIE! HE JUST COMPLETED HIS MISSION! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HAPPY ENDING!!
*Later on in the chapter*
"Hamid bounded up the steps of the english nurses home... He was full of life that morning -"
Charter: AHA! You just said he was full of life, he can't be full of life if he died! I KNEW HAMID DIDN'T DIE!
"Yes - I lied ok? Hamid did not die... I just wanted to make sure you were listening!"
I guess if you are reading either of those books right now, I might have just given away that Sophie does not kill Rosalind and that Hamid does not die... Oh well... You will enjoy them anyway :-)
